“MY VISIT TO THE THRONE ROOM” – Roland Buck
(From “Angels on Assignment,” pp. 49-72, Excerpts)
The chain of strange happenings in my life dates back to January 21, 1977, when I became God’s guest. I discovered he wants to be treated like a friend. His words to me … “Relax, I already know you,” have changed my life. When he said, “I don’t record failure,” he opened a door of hope for all of mankind.
One Saturday night in January of 1977, at about 10:20 o’clock, I was seated at my desk, meditating, praying, and preparing my heart for Sunday. I had my head down on my arm at the desk, when suddenly, without any warning, I was taken right out of that room!
I heard a voice say: “Come with me into the Throne Room where the secrets of the universe are kept!” I didn’t have time to answer; space means nothing to God! It was like a snap of the fingers – and I was right there! Only then did I recognize that the voice I had heard speaking to me was the voice of the Almighty God!
He came right to the point and said, “I want to give you (and this is HIS expression) an ‘overlay’ of truth.” In a split second of eternity, we went from Genesis to Revelation, looking first at God’s plan for his people. Throughout all of the Bible, God discussed his character, stating, I will do nothing in conflict with my nature or my character. My plan for you is good and it will be accomplished.”
Then he did another very surprising thing! He wrote down 120 events which he said would happen in my life in the future. It wasn’t like you and I write; the information just suddenly appeared! I did not even need to read it, but right now, I can tell you EVERYTHING that was on that paper, because it was instantly impressed on my mind like a printing press prints on paper. The press doesn’t have to read what is imprinted. It’s there! In the same way, every single notation was burned into my mind, and it’s still there!
Even though I had this knowledge, God also let me know that he did not want me to reveal any of these things until such time as he would release me to share them.
God emphasized to me that we should quit worrying about HIS responsibilities. He actually let me view people who are trying to serve him by seeing how much they can get their minds in tune with him, by trying to think just exactly right, or trying to say the right word at the right time! God emphasized to me, “That is my business. You worship me, walk with me, put your hand in mine, get your heart in tune with me and I will give you the privilege of moving with me.
“Let me take care of my own business! What I have promised is my business, and I will take care of it. I have not failed in all of this time. Not even one of my words has failed in all of my good promises.”
Someone asked me if it seemed empty coming back to temporal things, but it doesn’t, because it is all a part of his systematic plan for his eternal kingdom. I feel God is just as close here as there!
Would you say: Thirty correct predictions out of one hundred is phenomenal? How about 120 out of 120? God never misses. That is why you can rely wholly on him. One by one, the 120 events on the special list God had given to me while I was in his Throne Room, began to take place in the exact order listed! God had told me that these were markers along the road in confirmation of my visit to the Throne Room!
Number 113 of the 120 events which God entered on this paper from my book in heaven on January 21, 1977, was the selection of a new pope. God told me the pope has no more influence with him that the least of his saints, and has no greater privileges; but because his influence with man is great, his choice is God’s concern. Therefore, in order to help in the restoration of his fragmented body, God has chosen a man named Karol Wojtyla of Poland. This prophecy was fulfilled October 16, 1978, when he began his reign as Pope John Paul II.
The question is often asked if the number of events have any spiritual significance, and what their completion will mean. Actually, these 120 things are merely a minute fraction of God’s unfolding plan. They are reference points along the way, reminding us of his faithfulness.
God placed in the Bible far more than 120 specific events which he predicted would happen. All those which were to happen up to this time have happened just exactly as he said they would, and those which are yet to come will surely come to pass. These miracles foretold are proof that he is God. His unfolding plan will continue unabated, even though I may not have any more special markers along the way.
One of the greatest truths this message brings is the assurance that God has scheduled each day of our lives. As we walk with him, he will direct our path, and though unknown to us, he will bring to pass his purpose for each of us, just as surely as he has caused, or will cause, the 120 events to happen which were given to me that glorious day in the Throne Room.
NOTE: On Friday April 8, 2005, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany deliverd the homily at the funeral of Saint John Paul the Great. He mentioned the 3 life verses that strongly and effectively guided the life of this man who died at age 84.
When he was 38, God asked him if he would be willing to move to Krakow as the assistant bishop. He was willing, and God had given him the following verse from John 15:16 – “You didn’t choose Me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using My Name. I command you to love each other.” Jesus gave these words to the 12, but directly applied them to Karol Wojtyla. At this assignment he became bishop, and then Cardinal.
Next God quickened to him John 10:11 – “I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” Would Karol be willing to do this? Would he allow the Risen Lord to do this again through him? His answer was affirmative
Lastly God gave him John 15:9 – I have loved you even as the Father has loved Me. Remain in my love.” The above 3 verses governed the entire life of John Paul II. Jesus moved through him, because he identified himself in Jesus’ sufferings, both from an assassin’s attempt in 1982, and then through continuing on in spite of the severe onslaught of Parkinson’s disease. He let Jesus have full and perfect way in LOVE through him to the world.
When he was 58 the Lord asked him – Would you be willing to go to Rome as pope? He said that if it was the will of God, he was willing.
He spoke 20 languages, and people, especially youth and children sensed the presence of God coming through this man when he was present.
Now the cardinal who gave his homily has been elected pope, naming himself Pope Benedict XVI. Ratzinger may have softened his image – at least among his colleagues – with the delivery of the homily at John Paul II’s funeral. Choking back tears, the cardinal said that “we can be sure our beloved pope is standing today at the window of the father’s house, that he sees us and blesses us.” It was Ratzinger in his homily who gave the above 3 verses that meant so much to John Paul II. Is any man perfect? Of course not. But can God overrule and use a man such as Paul John II for His purposes? I believe so. Will such a concept trouble some? No doubt. But when we all get to heaven, we will then see the wisdom of God in all such troubling matters to us. At least the insights God gave Roland Buck concerning Karol Wojtyla will give us food for thought.
